What is Rebar Testing?
Rebar Testing is a destructive material testing. It is conducted to assure the quality of the rebar if it follows the national standards. There are two types of tests, the tensile test and bending test. Before they proceed with the testing, the testing technicians will check the physical properties of the rebar listed below:
Physical properties:
- Length of specimen (mts.)
- Weight of test specimen (kgs)
- Diameter of test specimen (mm)
- Cross-sectional area of test specimen (sq.mm)
- Unit mass of specimen (kg/mts.)
- Variation in Mass (%)
And after the testing we will determine its deformation properties which are listed below:
Deformation:
- Average spacing of lugs, mm
- Average height of lugs, mm
- Sum gaps of lugs, mm
- Mechanical Properties:
- Yield point, N/sq.mm (MPa)
- Tensile strength, N/sq.mm (MPa)
- TS/YS Ratios
- Elongation %
- Cold Bend Test
- Diameter of pin used, in
- Bending angle, degree
Note:
- Tests are conducted in accordance with PNS-49.
- Results are those obtained at the time of test and pertain only to the sample received by the laboratory.
